The idea of the Labyrinth as a parallel entity to the museum evolved as a reaction to the competition brief of the MOCCA and Atelier Domino's concept. The myth of Icarus as a physical escape is contrasted to that of the Labyrinth, ostensibly a place of confinement for the Minotaur but reassessed as also being a poetic diagram and secure repository. The winged Labyrinth is portrayed as, in the words of Atelier Domino, 'the ultimate container for art.'
